MANGO announces free March workshops

(Marianas Alliance of Non-Governmental Organizations) — MANGO will host a series of workshops throughout March aimed at strengthening nonprofits, community organizations, and individuals working to improve their communities. The workshop series will provide practical guidance on nonprofit sustainability, legislative engagement, data management, and federal grant opportunities.

“These workshops are designed to equip organizations with the knowledge and tools they need to strengthen their operations, secure resources, and increase their community impact,” said the MANGO team.

All workshops are free and open to nonprofits, community groups, and anyone interested in building stronger organizations and communities.

March workshop schedule

The following workshops will be facilitated by the MANGO team, drawing on their experience supporting nonprofit development, organizational capacity building, and community initiatives.

Introducing I Tinithun–Bweletal: Legislative Support for Community Projects

Participants will explore how legislative support can help advance community initiatives and learn how organizations can work effectively with policymakers.

Sustaining Your Nonprofit

This session will cover strategies for long-term nonprofit sustainability, including planning, partnerships, and resource development.

This workshop is ideal for new or emerging organizations and will cover the fundamentals of nonprofit purpose, structure, and responsibilities.

Participants will learn how to design and implement effective data collection practices to help organizations track progress, measure impact, and make informed decisions.

Two special one-time workshops focused on federal grants will also be offered.

Federal Grants 101: From Need to Funded

This session introduces participants to federal grant opportunities and explains the steps from identifying a community need to preparing a competitive grant application.

Federal Grant Management: The Basics

Participants will learn essential practices for managing federal grants successfully, including compliance, reporting, and financial oversight.

About the presenter

The federal grant workshops will be presented by Patrick Maloney, GPC, a grant professional with more than 20 years of experience in fundraising and leadership. As a Grant Professional Certified, Maloney has secured more than $50 million in government and foundation grants and has served as a federal grant reviewer for agencies including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Since 2019, Maloney has served as the grant writing professional for Guam Community College, bringing specialized expertise in navigating the unique funding landscapes of the Pacific Islands and Micronesia. A 17-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and former Business Management educator, he is known for mentoring organizations and helping simplify the complexities of the federal grant process.
