THE House of Representatives held another emergency session Thursday to consider the introduction of two local appropriation measures providing emergency funding for Tinian and Rota.
The House unanimously approved Floor Leader Marissa Flores’ motion to adopt an emergency declaration before Rep. Blas Jonathan Attao, on behalf of Rep. Patrick San Nicolas, introduced House Local Bill 24-56, appropriating $156,000 in poker fee collections for Tinian “to respond to critical emergency situations and urgent recovery initiatives in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Sinlaku.”
Rep. Julie Marie Ogo introduced H.L.B. 24-57, re-appropriating a total of $80,000 in poker fee collections for Rota for the same purpose. Of that amount, $60,000 was originally allotted for medical subsistence and municipal scholarship assistance, while $20,000 was originally appropriated for the Rota Aging Program and Flame Tree Arts Festival.
The Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation was expected to pass H.L.B. 24-56 in its own emergency session set for 11 a.m. Thursday in the Senate chamber, while the Rota Legislative Delegation was set to act on H.L.B. 24-57 on Friday.
The $156,000 in poker fee collections for Tinian is allocated to the Tinian mayor’s office for operations, personnel, and public programs to respond to critical emergencies and island recovery efforts. The $80,000 for Rota is allocated to the Rota mayor’s office for the same purposes.
