TEAM NMI track standout Simon Tang continued his record-breaking collegiate season on the international stage Thursday, May 21, securing the delegation’s first medal — a silver — with a second-place finish in the men’s 400-meter hurdles Under-20 division at the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships.
The 19-year-old clocked a spectacular 57.43 seconds in Heat 1, finishing just behind Tonga’s Mounga Leao, who won in 56.15 seconds. Tang shattered his own NMI record while further rewriting the Commonwealth’s athletics history books.
