MARIANAS High School graduate One An, now a junior at the University of Pennsylvania, was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa on May 14, 2026, along with 126 other undergraduate students.

An is studying Information & Computation and Mathematics, with a concentration in Logic and a minor in Digital Media Design at the University of Pennsylvania. Before graduating from MHS in 2023, he received a scholarship offer from the Ivy League institution.

Now 20 years old, An is currently interning at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany.

While invitations from Phi Beta Kappa are typically extended to graduating students, An received the distinction during his junior year, making the honor particularly rare and noteworthy.

Founded in 1776 at the College of William & Mary in Virginia, Phi Beta Kappa is one of the United States’ most prestigious academic honor societies. Its members have included U.S. presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Bill Clinton, Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, and author Mark Twain.

Emmanuel “Arnold” Erediano has a bachelor of science degree in Journalism. He started his career as police beat reporter. Loves to cook. Eats death threats for breakfast.
