Fraud Awareness Week: DRT reminds all to be vigilant

THE Division of Revenue and Taxation would like to remind the community that tax fraud is a serious issue in the CNMI.  As part of Fraud Awareness Week, which runs from Nov. 17 through 23, 2024, DRT is calling on taxpayers and businesses to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of fraud or scams.

Tax fraud not only undermines the fairness of the system but also impacts vital public resources.  Common types of tax fraud include:

• Unsubstantiated and unreported income

• Wagering/gambling income

• Failure to pay taxes, withhold taxes or file returns

DRT encourages all residents to report any suspicious activity or tax fraud concerns by contacting their office at (670) 664-1040. Fraud Awareness Week is an opportunity for everyone in our community to learn about the importance of combating fraud and prevention of fraud.  For more information on global fraud awareness and prevention efforts, please visit fraudweek.com/.
