Michael Lujan Bevacqua
A SERIES of free online lectures regarding Chamorro legends will be conducted via Zoom starting on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. ChST, according to Guam-based podcast Fanachu.
The four-part lecture series focuses on different Chamorro legends with which the public may not be familiar.
A new lecture is scheduled every Wednesday for the remainder of the month. Guam Museum curator Michael Bevacqua will deliver all lectures.
Each lecture will talk about the historical, cultural and literary dimensions of the legend, with time for questions and answers at the lecture’s conclusion.
The first lecture focuses on the motifs found in Chamorro legends about the “strongest man on the island” and the “village chiefs dueling to see who is the champion.”
All lectures will be recorded and archived for future viewing via Fanachu podcast.
