THE Last Shot 8 Ball Shooters continue to ascend the ladder in the Tuesday division of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League 2024 after narrowly escaping the clutches of Black 8 Rack N’ Roll, 7-6, at Black 8 Pool Bar on Tuesday.
The Shooters nearly swept the first set of the Single 8-Ball games. Mario Ibay bagged the opening win against Rack N’ Roll’s Roland Igisomar with two balls left on the table, but Rack N’ Roll’s Randy Sablan beat the Shooters’ Sherwin Entabo with two balls left.
Rolando Roque answered with a dominant victory over John Reyes with six balls left followed by another winning contribution by Victor Formales to hand the Shooters the upper hand, 3-1.
After splitting the first set of the Partners 8-Ball games, 1-1, Rack N’ Roll earned redemption in the second set of one-on-one games with a 3-1 run led by Randy Sablan, who defeated Entabo with seven balls left on the table for the first deadlock of the night, 5-5.
In pairs, both teams remained equally matched with another 1-1 split in the second set of partners games.
In the final Partners 8-Ball game, DJ Mansilungan and Entabo stepped up to the plate and bested Rack N’ Roll’s Chris Camacho and Sablan to hand the Shooters the victory, 7-6.
Rustlers vs Crooked Arrow
For their part, the Black 8 Ideal Signs Rustlers bested the Black 8 Crooked Arrow, 8-5.
The Rustlers found their stroke right from the start as they pulled a 3-1 run in the opening set of the Singles 8-Ball games. The team tried to hold onto the lead by splitting the first set of Partners 8-Ball games, but they lost 1-3 to the Crooked Arrow in the next set of singles games.
With the overall match score tied at 5-5, the Crooked Arrow fought well, but the Rustlers were strong in pairs as Jerry Tiu and Chester Hamoy, along with Rowel “Cobra” Mariano and Toto Bigcas, swept the second set of the Partners 8-Ball games while Robert Sanciangco and Tiu claimed the final partners game to seal the deal for the Rustlers, 8-5.
