A CRANE of the Saipan Stevedore Company accidentally fell on a perimeter fence at the Port of Saipan on Tuesday, causing damage to the port facility. No one was hurt.
During a meeting of the Seaport Affairs Committee of the Commonwealth Ports Authority board on Wednesday, the board vice chair, Antonio Cabrera, expressed concern about the incident.
For his part, the committee chairman, Ramon A. Tebuteb, wanted to know if the damage at the port facility had been addressed, to which Cabrera replied, “We may want to know first what happened.”
CPA Executive Director Leo Tudela directed Port of Saipan Manager Jerra B. Cing to provide the board with a report.
Cing said she could not provide more details because the incident was still being investigated as of Wednesday.
Tudela said he had also instructed Cing to ensure that the affected area was not open to the public “for everybody’s safety.”
