AMERICAN Red Cross, NMI chapter volunteers responded to a structure fire at approximately 11:30 p.m. late Saturday evening and assisted a total of 18 individuals who were displaced as a result of the fire.

Red Cross volunteer responders Alvin Borja, Jack Amirez, Mae Angui, Anneli Arcega, and Luis Crisistomo Jr. were dispatched to the scene and met with the affected residents.

Affected individuals were provided emergency assistance at the time of the incident. Additional follow-up visits and calls were made by volunteers to provide cleanup kits for clients to use as they returned to their homes.

American Red Cross Executive Director John Hirsh stated that “home fires are always unexpected, so families need to prepare in advance by installing smoke alarms and having a home fire evacuation plan. Your life may depend on it!”
