REPRESENTATIVE Julie Ogo has voiced her disappointment with the Marianas Visitors Authority for its insufficient marketing efforts for Rota on MVA’s official website, MyMarianas.com/. The website, which is intended to be a comprehensive resource for travelers, lacks substantial content highlighting Rota’s beauty, pristine beaches, historical landmarks, and unique tourist sites, Ogo said.

“It’s disappointing to see the lack of marketing content on MyMarianas.com,” Ogo added. “The Marianas Visitors Authority really needs to enhance their marketing strategy by consistently updating their webpage. How can travelers learn about a destination without seeing photos of its tourist spots and historical sites?”

Taking proactive steps to address this issue, Ogo said she has launched her own social media campaign to promote Rota. She encourages the use of hashtags #BisitaLuta, #VisitTheMarianas, and #MyMarianas, urging social media audiences, influencers, and bloggers to share beautiful and amazing photos and experiences of Rota. She said this initiative aims to fill the promotional gap left by MVA and to highlight what makes Rota a must-visit destination.

“By failing to adequately showcase Rota, we miss out on opportunities to attract visitors who are looking for exactly what our island offers — natural beauty, tranquility, and rich history,” Ogo added. “It’s crucial that MVA invests more in showcasing what makes the Marianas special. This not only promotes tourism but also supports the local economy and preserves our cultural heritage,” she said.

Ogo said her social media campaign has already gained traction, with numerous posts showcasing the stunning landscapes, serene beaches, and cultural sites of Rota. She hopes this grassroots effort will inspire MVA to take immediate action by enriching its website with updated content, including high-quality photos, detailed descriptions, and engaging stories about Rota’s attractions.
