FRANCIS Mendiola clinched the Amigos Golf Club’s May Ace of the Month title by shooting a two-day net score of 137 at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
With the rainy season approaching, the golf courses proved to be tougher than usual but that did not stop Mendiola from aiming for the title.
On day 1, held on May 5 at the east course, Mendiola struggled like the other players, but still held his head up and completed the 18-hole course with a gross of 98. Thanks to a handicap of 27, his net score was 71.
On day 2, held Sunday, May 19, at the west course, Mendiola improved his overall performance with a gross of 93, which gave him a net score of 66.
With a two-day net score of 137, Mendiola secured the May Ace of the Month title.
In the optional play, the Par 3 winners were Joe Sablan Jr. for hole #3, Jay Muna for hole #7, Frank Ermitanio for hole #13, and Ben Duenas for hole #17. Each was awarded $140.
The June Ace of the Month qualifier is slated for June 2 at the east course of Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.
