Respicio to be representative on the national energy board

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — The director of the Guam Energy Office has secured a seat on the National Association of State and Energy Officials board as the territory representative, “a profound opportunity” to elevate Guam’s role in national energy dialogue.

Rebecca Respicio, who has accepted the appointment, stated, “I am deeply honored to represent Guam on a national scale.”

A press release issued by the governor’s office said the appointment is “a significant advancement for Guam’s role in the national dialogue” and noted that Respicio’s selection was made by NASEO board Chairman John Williams of New York and approved by NASEO President David Terry.

“This appointment is a profound opportunity to elevate our island’s unique energy challenges and achievements within national policymaking,” Respicio said. “I am resolute in my commitment to ensuring that the U.S. territories are heard as we collaboratively work towards a sustainable and resilient energy future.”

According to NASEO, the organization provides “a unique alliance opportunity” connecting state representatives.

As the director of the Guam Energy Office, Respicio has advocated for renewable energy, efficiency and independence on the island and primarily provided solutions to high-energy costs for low-income families, according to the Adelup release.

The governor’s office said, “The collaboration with NASEO is expected to enhance energy programs throughout Guam and the territories, further aligning with the mission of creating a sustainable and resilient energy future for the islands and the nation.”
