Arrestee had paint under fingernails matching paint used on stolen car

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — On March 29, officers with the Guam Police Department encountered Donicio Henry Angui as they attempted a traffic stop in Tamuning.

He was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra with two other occupants in the vehicle.

“The driver, Donicio Henry Angui, was detained shortly after being pulled over after the other two passengers fled in the vehicle,” according to a complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam.

Police later found the car “ditched on Harmon Industrial Road,” the complaint said.

The complaint said that the officers later learned that the vehicle was reported stolen three months earlier on Dec. 25, 2023.

“It was discovered that the car had fake license plates and appeared to be painted in possibly reddish/pink house paint,” the complaint said.

The paint on the car matched the paint found on Angui.

“(The) defendant, when interviewed by police, had reddish, pink paint stains on his hands and underneath his fingernails,” the complaint said.

As a result, Angui was charged with theft by receiving as a second-degree felony.

He was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
