THE administration has formed an “umbrella” organization that will oversee the implementation of various suicide prevention-related programs.
Maya B. Kara, legal counsel of Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente, yesterday said the role of the task force will be clearly defined to avoid duplication of efforts.
“Let the professionals define what the problem is, what are the programs that would address the problems and then the executive branch will be the one to make it happen,” Kara told reporters yesterday.
Kara said the task force will have four subcommittee chairmen—Health Secretary James U. Hofschneider, Bishop Tomas Camacho, Youth Speaker Luis John DLG. Castro and a representative from the Senate.
Gov. Juan N. Babauta and Benavente are the task force co-chairmen.
Kara said the four subcommittees will be formed during their next meeting next week.
She said the task force is also working on a new name.
