Australia commits to health support

HONIARA (Pacnews) — The Solomon Islands and Australian governments have signed a memorandum of agreement that strengthens the management of Australian funding for the Solomon Islands health sector.

The MOU also reaffirms the partnership between the two countries in this critical sector.

The Australian High Commission in Honiara said Australia has already provide more than SI$26 million ($3.8 million) to the Health Sector Trust Account, which is used to finance basic health services in all provinces.

In addition, this trust account is designed to help strengthen the financial management skills of health workers, especially those in the provinces.
