Camacho: Motorists should learn 4-way traffic rules

PUBLIC Safety Commissioner Edward Camacho says motorists should try to be familiar with the four-way traffic rules.

“Many people probably don’t know that we have four-way traffic lanes and both of them are in Kagman,” Camacho told reporters.

Camacho said the four-way traffic lane is designed to either control the speed at a road intersection or make sure that motorists at the intersection have a chance to make their left or right turns.

“It’s really a first come first serve basis. Now if people should come together at that four-way intersection all at the same time, then they need to understand that the person making the left turn should go first,” Camacho said.

He said the motorist making the left turn always has a harder time than the driver making the right turn.

If there are four motorists at a four-way intersection, Camacho said, the drivers need to look at each other, observe the signal lights, and figure out who has the hardest time in making the turn.

“And that person should be given the right to make the turn first. Just like when we see the elderly having a hard time getting up in a bus––we help them up. The same concept should apply at a four-way intersection,” Camacho said.
