Tahitians seize drug shipments from Europe

PAPEETE (Tahitipresse/PINA) – Tahitian law-enforcement officials stopped a cannabis smuggling scheme in French Polynesia. 5.4 kilos of cannabis have been seized and about 10 people are now in custody.

The drugs were coming from Holland.

It is the first time that such a cannabis smuggling scheme has been discovered by Tahitian law-enforcement officials.

The cannabis found in Tahiti is usually produced in the French Polynesian islands.

The main person involved in the smuggling case does not live in French Polynesia, the Tahitian officials said.
