KOROR (Palau Horizon) — The Senate has passed legislation to create national parks on Babeldaob and in each state of Palau to boost the tourism industry.
Introduced by Senate President Seit Andres, Senate Bill 6-97 is now with the House of Delegates.
The bill states that national parks allow the people “to preserve and enjoy these places of great natural beauty.”
The Senate Committee on Tourism Development and Cultural Affairs said national parks will also showcase Palau to visitors.
The parks will attract tourists and contribute to the country’s economy as well as to the respective economies of each state, the committee said.
