Team Marianas’ Greg Sablan goes up for the shot against CK Saint’s Melvin Manibusan during the inaugural Michelob Ultra Cup at the Ada gym last year.
THE 2024 Michelob Ultra Cup’s second season starts on April 5, and this time it will feature a women’s open division with a maximum of four teams. The entrance fee is $450 for each women’s team, and the regular season will consist of a round-robin format, followed by single-elimination playoffs.
For the men’s open division, a maximum of 12 teams (14 players per team) can vie for the coveted title. The Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation said each team must have at least five players who are 21 years old or over to be eligible to play.
The entrance fee per men’s team is $675 and the deadline for fee, rosters, and waiver forms is set for April 2. Registration will be on a “first come, first served” basis.
The regular season will follow the round robin format with the top seven teams advancing to single-elimination playoffs with the top seed of the regular season receiving a bye in the first game.
During last year’s inaugural season, the undefeated Martech Ol’Aces crushed Team Marianas, 91-56, to win the championship on June 6, 2023.
