(Tahitipresse) — Tahitian airline Air Tahiti Nui launched its first flight to Paris. A special celebration including traditional songs and dances greeted the arrival of the new “Mangareva” Airbus in France.
Air Tahiti Nui Chairman Nelson Levy said: “This first flight comes after eight months of difficult negotiations for landing rights in Paris. Adding France to our destinations is a good commercial opportunity for us and our customers.”
This first commercial flight carried 210 passengers to Paris.
During his stay in France, Levy met several European tour-operators to promote Tahiti and her islands.
Air Tahiti Nui officials also celebrated at the Charles de Gaulle Airport the first Paris-Papeete flight via Los Angeles.
This time, the Air Tahiti Nui Airbus carried 171 passengers.
Levy said that all Air Tahiti Nui flights from Paris to Papeete are booked until August.
Air Tahiti Nui will have two weekly flights to Paris and three weekly flights from June 28 to October.
