Tinian firm complies with water regs

SN-FIVE, a Tinian-based company selling bottled water and ice, is now complying with the CNMI Safe Drinking Water Regulations.

The Division of Environmental Quality earlier issued a notice of violation to SN-Five due to the presence of total coliform bacteria that exceeded the local drinking water maximum contaminant level standard.

Mary Anne Ingeniero of SN-Five yesterday said the company immediately complied with the regulations by sanitizing water tank and pipes, and by changing the faucet.

According to Ingeniero, only one of the three water samples from the three existing water pipes earlier analyzed was “positive.”

“We made the necessary things to comply with DEQ. When we sent another sample, it tested negative so we are in full compliance,” she said.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sets drinking water standards and has determined that the presence of total coliform is a possible health concern.
