‘Las Vegas Night’ is back

Rotary Club of Saipan Sergeant-at-Arms Curtis Dancoe talks about the plans for Las Vegas Night during a meeting at Crowne Plaza Resort on Feb. 13, 2024.

ROTARY Club of Saipan’s Las Vegas Night will be held on Saturday, May 11, and raffle tickets are on sale now, according to the club’s sergeant-at-arms and double past president, Curtis Dancoe.

The event, which will take place at the Crowne Plaza Resort, will be held for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Las Vegas Night is the Rotary Club’s “premier fundraising event,” Dancoe told Variety on Tuesday. He said the funds raised support the numerous community projects sponsored by the club.

This year’s Las Vegas Night will feature a Texas Hold-Em poker tournament, bingo, roulette and blackjack.

Dancoe said Texas Hold-Em and bingo begin at 11 a.m. on the day of the event while table games start at 6 p.m.

Entrance is free, and there are numerous door prizes and cash prizes to be won.

According to the event’s official flyer, the grand prize raffle winner will take home a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback courtesy of Triple J or $10,000 in cash.

Other raffle cash prizes include $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place, $1,000 for third, and $500 for fourth place.

Raffle tickets cost $20 each and can be purchased from Rotarians. Megabyte and Paradise Dental are also selling tickets.

During the Rotary Club of Saipan’s meeting on Feb. 13, 2024, Dancoe said it will be “all hands on deck for every Rotarian” on event night.

“It is a big production,” Dancoe added. “It takes a lot of people, it takes a lot of volunteers. If you sit around for about 30 minutes [the crowd] continues to multiply and multiply. And within two hours every single table is taken…. It’s just a beautiful experience. It’s been very successful.”

Dancoe said because this year’s event will take place a day before Mother’s Day, it could be an opportunity to take mothers to lunch and then to bingo at Las Vegas Night.

He thanked Saipan Stevedore and Construction and Material Supply for contributing to the upkeep of the Rotary Club of Saipan’s “centerpiece” roulette table.

“This isn’t a roulette wheel you buy on Amazon,” Dancoe said. “It’s the most iconic piece of Las Vegas Night. It’s great to look at and get a picture of. We’re really happy to have it and CMS and Saipan Stevedore Company have kept our equipment in fine shape.”
