COME and spend “Sunday with FOA,” a Friends of the Arts production on March 3. There will be two separate productions from which you can choose to attend at either 4 p.m. or 6:15 p.m.
At 4 p.m., enjoy the sounds and get acquainted with DYNMX, a singing group with roots going back to MHS’ Rhythm ‘n Harmony. They will be followed by two short plays from the young folks of the FOA Youth Theatre. This 4 p.m. set concludes with the sounds of the Saipan Community School Concert Band under the direction of former FOA Music Director Ruthie Fruit.
The doors reopen for the second production of this “Sunday with FOA” at 6:15 p.m. and begins with the young voices of the Hopwood Glee Club. This excellent club is under the able direction of Karen Manuel who has mentored numerous young voices that have performed throughout the island. They are followed by the two short plays presented by the Friends of the Arts Youth Theatre. This second set concludes with another fine musical group, the Marianas High School Concert Band under the direction of Su Jung Ham.
It should be noted that most of these performers will be off to Guam for the Tumon Bay Music Festival.
The performances will be held in the new cafeteria on the campus of Marianas High School. Tickets for each production are sold separately. Student tickets are $5 and adult tickets are $10.
As noted above, the doors open for the first production at 4 p.m. and open for the second production at 6:15 p.m.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or from members of the performing groups.
Reservations may be made by emailing thespians@hotmail.com/.
Proceeds from the two productions will be used to bring a return visit from classical pianist Roman Rudnytsky in mid-March, and to help support an FOA Youth Theatre Broadway Musical presentation in early May
Rudnytsky will be performing both in concert and at our local schools, times and places to be organized and announced.
