Benigno Sablan handed Tanapag Middle School the boys division championship title in the inaugural SBL-PSS Interscholastic Softball League after connecting the single that would turn into a walk-off highlight to defeat Hopwood Middle School, 5-4, on Saturday. In an interview after the game, he said: “It feels good. It’s really been good for our team — it’s the hardship that we went through and the teamwork and communication that led us to this championship.” When asked what was going through his mind when he was up to bat, he said, “It’s either I hit or I strike out but, in my head, I had the confidence to hit the ball and get that win.” He added, “Shoutout to my team, my dad, and my family!”
