Guam Agriculture: Beachgoers, be on the lookout for men-of-war

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — The Department of Agriculture Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources is warning beachgoers to be on a lookout for the Indo-Pacific man-of-war.

Men-of-war are expected to be seen during the months of November through February and have been sighted from Ritidian to Talo’fo’fo’.

“The public should be aware that they can sting even if washed up on the beach and dead,” DAWR said in a press release.

If seen, call the Department of Agriculture DAWR Fisheries Division at 671-735-0289/94 or 671-735-3982 or e-mail fisheries@doag.guam.gov or brent.tibbatts@doag.guam.gov.

Colin Anthony, a graduate researcher at the University of Guam Marine Laboratory, stands behind samples of the Indo-Pacific man-of-war.
