Tourists robbed in Garapan

TWO tourists were robbed by three men while they were walking in central Garapan on Monday night.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Pete C. Muna said two of the suspects were arrested: Roger Dean Santos and Alex Frank Rengiil—both are 23 years old.

Muna said preliminary investigation showed that while Akinori Otsu and his wife Naoko were walking southward near ABC Store, the three suspects followed them.

One of the suspects then grabbed the purse from one of the victims and fled with his two other companions into the dirt road intersection.

Santos and Rengiil later came back and walked along Beach Road across Duty Free Shoppers in Garapan.

A witness positively identified Santos and Rengiil, who were then transported to the Division of Corrections.
