Burglars break into tourist’s car

BURGLARS broke into a car and stole money and items belonging to a tourist at the Grotto in Marpi on Tuesday morning.

Police said the tourist lost his $200 cash, credit cards, snorkeling gear, and keys to his hotel room and safety box. The victim’s rented car was also damaged.

Acting Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Rose Ada said no details about the incident were available as of yesterday.

Last June 24, burglars broke into a car and stole money and other items belonging to a family that went swimming at Wing Beach in Marpi.

Public Safety Commissioner Edward Camacho recently disclosed that police officers had been fielded in areas frequented by tourists to prevent burglaries.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old woman was charged for assaulting a minor girl last Feb. 10.

Theopolos Lipihner was charged with child abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
