DPS: Nissan pick-up truck caused 3-vehicle collision on Beach Road

DPS spokeswoman Lei Ogomuro said that at around 1:57 p.m., the Nissan pick-up truck operated by Shane P. Adriano was traveling south. He failed to stop and rear-ended the red Mazda operated by Barbara T. Lontoc.

Lontoc stopped on the southbound lane to make a left turn when Adriano hit her car on the rear-end. After the impact, the red Mazsa spun to the left and entered the northbound lane, colliding with a white Kia cargo truck operated by Allan B. Villa.

Villa’s cargo truck veered to the right and entered the northbound shoulder, subsequently colliding with an anchor of a CUC power pole.

His truck tipped over and came to a final rest on the driver’s side.

Traffic and patrol units as well as medics responded to the scene.

The weather was clear and the road surface, including the shoulder, was dry, at the time of the accident.

According to DPS Adriano violated CNMI Vehicle Code Title 9 subsection 5251 (b), which states: “In no event shall any motor vehicle be operated at speed greater than will permit it to be stopped within the assured clear distance ahead.”

Alcohol was not a factor in this crash.

Lontoc, Angulo and Villa suffered injuries and were transported by medics to the Commonwealth Health Center for further treatment and evaluation.

Michael Sablan, a passenger of the Kia, Adriano and his passenger Joaquin G. Adriano were unharmed.
