Taotao Tano barred from using gov’t office

Reyes said the Fitial ad ministration cannot assign another office for Taotao Tano’s use because “we are not obligated to do so.”

Capital Hill house no. 1348, which is near the office of the Washington Rep. Pedro A. Tenorio, is where the Attorney General’s Office store evidence, Reyes said.

He said Gov. Benigno R. Fitial has already informed Taotao Tano president Gregorio Cruz Jr. that there was a “mistake” in OPM’s assignment of the office space.

Cruz, in a separate interview, said they haven’t received a letter from the governor.

He declined to comment further.

Last week, Taotao Tano filed a complaint with the Department of Public Safety against the Attorney General’s Office for “criminal trespass.”

Cruz said the AGO broke into Taotao Tano’s Capital Hill office without authorization.

But Reyes said government property can only be used for government purposes and if a private entity like the Taotao Tano wants to use a government office, it has to submit an application for a lease contract to the Department of Public Lands.
