Filipino workers can now apply online for exit clearance

Philippine Consul General Wilfredo DL. Maximo said the employment certificate or exit clearance can now be accessed through a two-way delivery system on the Internet.

Previously, he explained, workers who are in the Philippines would have to personally go to the POEA office to apply for their exit clearance.

Now, the exit clearance can be delivered to the worker’s residence in the Philippines through the Aboitiz 2GO courier services, Maximo said in an e-mail.

“They do not need to go to POEA and thus can spend more time with family and friends during their stay in the Philippines,” he said, adding that the delivery service is available nationwide.

He said the new system is part of the POEA’s continuous effort to provide quality service to Filipino overseas workers, he said.

Workers can apply for their exit clearance by logging on to www.oecdelivery.com.ph.

An applicant has to pay 2,650 pesos, or $258, which includes Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Philhealth memberships fees.

An applicant must also submit photocopies of his passport, entry permit/re-entry letter, valid OWWA and Philhealth membership, if any.

After validation of submitted proof of OWWA and Philhealth membership, the courier service will deliver the exit clearance to the applicant’s address after three working days.

Upon delivery of the exit clearance, applicants with valid OWWA and Philhealth membership will be refunded the corresponding amount.

Maximo said should the worker decide not to avail of the two-way delivery system, he can print out the information sheet after applying online and proceed to POEA to file the application.

Maximo said workers may also visit POEA Web site at www.poea.gov.ph for more information or call the Aboitiz/2GO courier services in Manila at 011-632-737-7777.
