Taisacan, Solang, Barcinas are Rota High School’s top graduates

He is the son of Lydia and Abraham Taisacan.

Isaiah Solang is this year’s salutatorian and the recipient of the Principal’s Award. He is the son of Evelyn Solang.

The third highest honor was awarded to Erinelle A. Barcinas, the daughter of Barbara and Eric Barcinas.

In his message, Abraham Taisacan said he’s proud to lead this year’s seniors of Rota High School.

“I stand proud and overjoyed with the accomplishments I have achieved,” he said during the ceremony that was witnessed by the students’ families and other members of the community on Rota.

He expressed his gratitude to his mentors for preparing their students to move on and molding their minds to prepare them for the challenges that come with life.

“On behalf of the graduates, I would like to thank all the parents for the hard work, undivided attention and loving sacrifices you have made for your kids,” he said. “It is true that we would not have made it without you. We now have the opportunity to graduate and make you proud.”

Taisacan said the past four years were filled with “ups and downs” and it was “uplifting to know that they have their families to bounce back on and guide them at every step of the way.”

He told his fellow seniors that they will now “explore a new journey of their life.”

“Today is our time to shine, a day to cherish forever,” he said. “I want you to know that it is a great honor to be your Class of 2008 valedictorian. Our 14 years of hard work has paid off. We should be thankful for each other. The friendships we’ve made will last a lifetime. We helped one another survive the high school years and we can now hold our heads up high knowing that we made it.”

It is his hope, he added, that they will continue to look out for each other.

The event was attended by Rota Mayor Joseph S. Inos, Sen. Paul A. Manglona, R-Rota, and his wife, Commissioner of Education David M. Borja, Board of Education Chairwoman Lucy Blanco-Maratita and BOE member Tanya King.
