June 15-21 is National Men’s Health Week in FSM

In his declaration, Mori said despite advances in medical technology and understanding of the human physiology, men continue to live an average of almost six years less than women with FSM men having lowest life expectancy.

He believes that educating the public and health care providers about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and early detection of health problems will result in reducing rates of mortality from disease.

Men who are educated about the values of preventive health will be more likely to participate in health screening, Mori said.

“The men will work with the FSM Congress to develop and establish National Men’s Health Week as a special campaign to help educate men and their families about the importance of positive health attitudes and preventive health practices,” he added.

Men’s Health week in FSM will focus on men’s health issues, including heart disease, diabetes, prostate, testicular and colon cancer.

Citizens of the FSM are encouraged to increase awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise  and medical check-up.
