PCC-ETS offers summer classes for elementary students

The Palau Community College (PCC) Educational Talent Search Program (ETS) will be offering summer classes for elementary school students registered the ETS in grades 6th to 8th beginning on June 23 to July 18.  The classes offered cover all courses taught in the public schools in Palau.ETS is a federally funded program at PCC that identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to do well in school. According to Aggie Maech, ETS personnel, the classes will be offered at the PCC Continuing Education Training Room.  In addition, depending on the number of students who will register, more space will be made available.  “The program will provide participants with opportunities to hone their skills in math, English, science, and other regular subjects taught in the public school system,” she said.Moreover, the classes would an opportunity for participating students to retain what they had learned in the past school year and would provide them with an edge when school begins in August.According to Maech, ETS is now accepting applications and registering students for the summer classes.  Interested students are asked to contact Angelio “Toto” Anthonio or Jolene Joseph at 488-3926/2471 ext. 267 for further details about the program.I
