Bartley A. Jackson, Bridge Capital general manager, said the contestants will showcase their talents via Zoom on Dec. 17 at 6 p.m.
“In spite of the pandemic, we want to keep it going and support performers in the CNMI. This year, we are doing a virtual performance on Zoom. We had to modify our plan because we are not allowed to invite everyone to our typical live event,” Jackson said.
On Dec. 7 and 8, the contestants recorded their performances at Charley’s Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club.
“We had video and sound engineers on hand to create the best recording possible,” Jackson said.
Judging will be done live on Thursday, and anyone who wants to watch the show can do so online, he added.
“The judges will rank and rate the performers one by one. We will have our score tabulators on hand to keep track of the scoring. The winners will be revealed at the end of the show.”
This year’s competition will have two categories — youth and adult divisions.
“The pandemic has hit the CNMI very hard,” Jackson said. “We are continuing this event because through good times and bad, people need an outlet for their creativity. People need an outlet for their voices…. By creating an online Zoom event, we can share our peoples’ talents with the island without worrying about getting sick,” he added.
“Since Bridge Capital opened its Saipan office in 2005, we have been a strong supporter of the arts and humanities in the CNMI. We support the visual arts through the Annual Festival of the Arts held as part of the annual Flame Tree Arts Festival. We support the literary arts through our annual funding of the public library. We also support the performing arts through CNMI Got Talent,” Jackson said.
As a special bonus, Bridge Capital announced that everyone who logs in to watch is eligible to win a prize.
