Saipan Fil-American Lions Club assists typhoon victims in the Philippines

Through the assistance of a member’s relative in the Philippines, the Saipan Fil-American Lions were able to provide help to three families in Naga City, south of Manila: the families of Rea Alano Manondo, Effigine Deblois Crisostomo and Leamor R. Manlangit. Each received $210.

“They were in dire need of assistance — we needed to act soon so we asked members to share any amount,” club president Eden Mercado said.

Moreover, the club, in collaboration with Tribes and Nations Outreach Mission Academy in Laguna province, was able to deliver care packages consisting of tarp, rice, canned goods, toiletries and personal hygiene items to the other typhoon-devastated areas in San Vicente in Camarines Norte, Milaor in Camarines Sur, Kawa-Kawa in Ligao, Tabaco and Legaspi City in Albay.

Club secretary Mario Mayuga said: “We are so grateful to our fellow Lions for their generosity and special thanks to Ms. Mildred Pabilando and Ms. Anna Mercado for coordinating the assistance in the Philippines through their relatives and non-profit organizations.”
