Fitial accused the woman of stealing her $50 after drinking beer with her the previous night.
While holding a machete, Fitial demanded that her neighbor return the money.
Police said Fitial also forcefully entered the apartment of the victim and managed to grab the victim’s cell phone while she was calling the police.
Fitial was arrested on Oct. 30, 2020 and was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, burglary, assault, and disturbing the peace.
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail on Fitial and remanded her to the custody of the Department of Corrections.
Fitial will return to court on Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. for preliminary hearing, and on Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. for arraignment.
The Public Defender’s Office was appointed by the court to represent Fitial while Assistant Attorney General Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
