He was born in Saipan and was a graduate of Eiko High School in Yokosuka, Japan. Waki worked for Atkins Kroll (Guam) Ltd. and Microl Corporation (Saipan) from 1957 to 1981.
In January 1982, he joined NANBO as assistant general manager and was later promoted to various positions within the company such as chief underwriter, senior manager for underwriting, senior manager for marketing and general manager.
In May 2017, Waki joined affiliate Guahan Insurance Services as general manager. After 37 years of service to NANBO and GIS, Waki retired on Dec. 31, 2018.
The passing of Vic Waki, a valued friend and colleague of the entire NANBO and GIS familia, represents a personal loss to all who knew him and cherished both his friendship and professionalism.
Waki leaves behind his wife, six children and several grandchildren.
NANBO Chairman P. Sonny Ada stated, “Vic Waki was a trusted and dedicated insurance professional. No words can express our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. On behalf of the Nanbo Guam, Ltd. board of directors and family, we extend our condolences and appreciation to Vic’s wife and family.”
