Turkey shootout
It was also a special day for the Marianas Golf Association as it added a turkey shootout in remembrance of longtime member Jason “Peps” Sablan who passed away recently.
Sablan loved to play golf and was always looking forward to the monthly ace tournaments. He had been a member since the club was established in 2013.
For the Jason “Peps” Sablan Turkey Shootout, MGA held a Closest to the Fairway Pin competition at hole No. 3 and No. 12 with Paul Kaipat claiming hole No. 3 and Marco Peter victorious at hole No. 12.
MGA then raffled four turkeys during the banquet. The winners were Patrick Guerrero, Carl Hocog, Keone Chariton and Gus Palacios.
MGA also recognized and welcomed the three guest players: Tony Benavente, Tony Deleon Guerrero and Sylvester Javier.
The MGA golf season runs from May 2020 through April 2021. It holds an ace tournament once a month at three of the golf courses on island.
Interested golfers are welcome to join the MGA club. All they need to do is reach out to a current MGA member for details. The annual fee for a new member is $40 while a returning member pays $30. This is a one-time fee that gets each new or returning member an MGA polo shirt and hat.
