House honors Rose Camacho

CSO board chairwoman Geralyn Dela Cruz gave remarks as she presented the resolution on behalf of the CSO and the members of the House of Representatives.

“Rose was a phenomenal woman,” Dela Cruz said. “She championed the scholarship office, all of the functions of the office, and she carried on her mission, encouraging her team to pursue a degree in higher education.”

She added, “I know that she was very proud of the scholarship office. She often spoke about it, and to me — and I’m sure all of the board members, that speaks wonders because it showed us that it wasn’t really about the money, it wasn’t really about the recognition, she was all about bettering lives.”

Dela Cruz said Camacho  touched the lives of many people.

“Rose has taught me a lot. I serve in a similar capacity as she did and I think much of my success is due to what I’ve learned from her,” she added.

The chairwoman also acknowledged Camacho’s husband and children who were present for the presentation of the resolution, along with several other close family members and friends.

“She left this world with a legacy that many will remember. I thank you for your sacrifice in allowing her to continue to serve the people of the CNMI in the capacity that she did,” she said.

Dela Cruz presented the resolution to the family of  Camacho following her remarks.

Anthony Camacho, the husband of Rose Camacho, thanked the CSO and the House of Representatives for honoring his late wife.

Mrs. Camacho passed away of natural causes on October 8.
