The individual was identified by travel screening upon arrival at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport, and was brought to the designated isolation area for monitoring.
The CNMI now has a total of 62 cases since March.
Of these cases, CHCC said about 58% were identified through port of entry screening procedures; 16% were identified as community contacts; and 26% cases were identified as known contacts.
Influenza vaccines
In other news, CHCC said it has received its first shipment of influenza vaccines.
The CHCC Immunization Program will initiate a three-phase vaccination that will prioritize healthcare workers, first responders and the vulnerable population.
“These professionals are essential in maintaining the health of the CNMI population. The healthcare workers and first responders are critical for the ongoing fight against the Covid-19 pandemic,” CHCC stated.
For phase 2, vaccination will be administered to vulnerable community members, including those with health conditions and pregnant women.
CHCC said it expects a larger shipment of vaccines for Saipan, Tinian and Rota in October.
For the third phase, CHCC estimates that it can administer vaccine to the general population at the end of October.
