CHCC Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna said the latest patient is a child. “The mother is negative, she didn’t have the virus, but the child is positive.”
They identified the case on the same day the traveler arrived on Thursday, Muna said.
She added that the child is asymptomatic and is the 14th person diagnosed through port of entry screening. The patient is currently at the Kanoa Resort for monitoring.
In related news, CHCC announced the resumption of community-based testing on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
On Saipan, Muna said CHCC and the Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force administered specimen collection at Kanoa Resort from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday.
On Tinian and Rota, the health centers on the islands are collecting and sending swabs from individuals to Saipan for testing.
Muna said CHCC wants the Rota and Tinian centers to conduct their own tests. CHCC is working on that now, she added.
Task force chairman Warren Villagomez said if Star Marianas resumes its Rota-Guam flight service, arriving passengers on Rota must follow the protocols currently implemented at the Saipan airport.
