THE Senate has adopted a resolution recognizing and commending Marcelino “Max” B. Aguon for his contributions to the betterment of the CNMI community and its environment.
Introduced by Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, Senate Resolution 23-05 acknowledged Aguon’s volunteerism and dedication towards the beautification of various CNMI beaches and other areas in an effort to enhance and maintain the island’s environment.
“This act of service for the CNMI does not only serve as an effort to enhance the Commonwealth’s environment, but also an effort to lead by example and educate the youth and adults of the Commonwealth, as well as all the visitors that frequent these areas, on what significant value beautification of CNMI holds,” stated the resolution which was presented by the Senate to Aguon on Friday, June 30, 2023.
According to the resolution, Aguon worked as a community worker for the CNMI Legislature in 2010-2011, and as a grounds maintenance coordinator for the Department of Lands and Natural Resources in 2013. He also worked as manager for various CNMI markets including Payless Supermarket, Laolao Bay Market, and Sugar Dock Market.
Aguon has worked for DLNR-Division of Parks and Recreation for more than 13 years now.
He was named DLNR’s 2021-2022 employee of the year, and Parks and Recreation’s employee of the year in 2022.
He is a multi-awarded community volunteer who has received many commendations and awards for his volunteer efforts in cleaning up tourist sites and promoting awareness to protect the environment.
Aguon told Variety that he will continue his advocacy for a clean and healthy environment.
He is also grateful to the individuals and businesses that support his advocacy. These include CMG San Jose Mobil Gas Station, DPA Car Mart in San Antonio, and U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan.
