NMI courthouse temporarily shuts down due to water service interruption

THE local judiciary on Thursday temporarily closed the Guma Hustisia or House of Justice due to water service interruption.

In a notice posted at the courthouse entrance in Susupe, Chief Justice Alexandro Castro and Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja informed the public that the Guma Hustisia will be temporarily closed from noon, Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, until further notice.

Variety was told that a broken water pipeline on Texas Road, a couple of blocks behind the courthouse, caused the water service interruption in the area.

Commonwealth Utilities Corp. crewmembers started repairing the broken pipe on Thursday morning and were still working on it as of 1 p.m., a CUC employee said.

Chief Justice Castro and Presiding Judge Naraja said, “While facilities are closed, judiciary personnel may be teleworking or activated for emergency and essential services. Bail, family protection, emergency and time-sensitive hearings may be set.”
