DOCOMO Pacific has signed up as a sponsor of an event focused on benefiting those recently stricken by Super Typhoon Mawar.

With a $1,500 check ready to present to Music of the Marianas Association or MMA volunteers, the regional communications provider became a Silver Sponsor of the “Un Marianas” dinner concert to be held at the Aqua Resort, poolside on July 14.  Tickets are being sold at $100 per person throughout the island by MMA volunteers.

Docomo Pacific’s donation helps the group of island musicians get closer to their goal of sending construction-related supplies to Guam and Rota. According to MMA Treasurer Gus Litulumar, their efforts are focused on helping our island neighbors get back to normalcy.

He further said, “During Yutu we too struggled without basic amenities like air-conditioning and so we feel for our brothers and sisters on those islands enduring this now.”

Docomo Pacific is a reliable stakeholder as they’ve come out to help on various other occasions according to Ross Manglona, resident executive of the Indigenous Affairs Office, who is assisting the nonprofit group in the coordination efforts.  “It’s the relationships we’ve maintained over the years, and their staff are comprised of our locals that grew up here and we should be proud of that fact,” Manglona added.

Asked for comment, Brent Deleon Guerrero, Docomo Pacific’s brand manager said, “Although the experience of each passing typhoon doesn’t get easier, it is through our community and the power of music that we find the strength to rebuild and come back stronger. It is this essence that our promise of being ‘Better Together’ stems from, and we are happy to be a part of the cause with the hope that it will inspire others to do the same.”

“Our community is so fortunate to have stakeholders like Mr. Deleon Guerrero and his colleagues at Docomo Pacific that come out when they are needed most,” Manglona said. “So far  200 tickets have been sold and hopefully, we continue selling aggressively as the event gets closer.  I remain confident that our community will come out and for sure we’re going to have a grand ole’ time,” he added.
