Bolaven 70 miles south of Saipan as of 4 pm, moving 10 mph

(CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management) — Based on information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, Typhoon Bolaven was moving northwest at 10 mph as of 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023.

It was located about 70 miles south of Saipan;

about 25 miles east-southeast of Rota;

about 60 miles south of Tinian;

about 245 miles south of Alamagan;

about 280 miles south of Pagan; and

about 320 miles south of Agrihan

Maximum sustained winds: 80 mph.

Bolaven is expected to make a turn toward the north-northwest with little change in forward speed through Wednesday afternoon.

Bolaven is forecast to intensify through Wednesday.

Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 35 miles while tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 140 miles.

As of 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, Gov. Arnold I. Palacios maintained Typhoon Condition I for  Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
