THE Commonwealth Utilities Corp. over the weekend reported that 90% of power services on Rota has been restored, including those of the Rota Health Center, the Rota International Airport and Sinapalo village.

“But there are still many power poles that needed to be replaced — most of the poles are down,” Rota Municipal Council Chairman Jim Atalig told Variety.

Annex F Teneto District 4 was among the villages that still did not have power as of Sunday.

According to a Rota resident, “We haven’t gotten power yet but we hope our power will be restored tomorrow and we thank and appreciate all of the CUC employees for all their hard work.”

CUC said 90% of the villages on Rota already had running water, but added that the water should be boiled for at least three minutes.

On Friday, Rota Mayor Aubry Hocog said a military aircraft would transport supplies to the island.

“[We] will have assistance from a Coast Guard plane that will help transport supplies, food, water and personnel to Rota,” she added.

The American Red Cross-NMI chapter, for its part, sent a team to assist in the island’s recovery efforts.

Meanwhile, the Rota Mayor’s Office has designated trash disposal sites.

Songsong residents must dispose of their green waste at Tatachok Landfill from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while Sinapalo residents must dispose of their green waste at the Sinapalo II Crusher from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All landfills are open daily.
