E-LAND Group is ready to expand its coffee and baked good offerings with the grand opening of Ohas Boulangerie & Café on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7 a.m.
The two-story establishment is located on the intersection of Orchid Street and Beach Road, north of Joeten Garapan and adjacent to Garapan Elementary School.
Ohas Boulangerie & Café will be “French, Fresh, and Fit,” according to Kensington Hotel Food and Beverage Director Amy Cho.
“We aim to make French-style bread,” Cho said. “Freshness is our recipe, and every bread here will be made using natural, low-temperature fermentation.”
Lindsay Ahn, an executive assistant at E-Land Group, said Ohas Boulangerie & Café’s full menu will feature around 70 different types of baked goods that will be offered on rotation.
Ahn said bread, pastries, and cakes will be baked in-house, daily.
Cho said cakes will be available for pick up on location, and customers can order cakes for birthdays or celebrations in advance.
As for the café side, Ohas Boulangerie & Café manager Henry Jung highlighted the Peanut Butter Coffee and Double Cube Latte as two items he’s excited about.
Jung said the Peanut Butter Coffee is a latte with special cream, peanut butter, condensed milk, and fresh milk.
Double Cube Latte is frozen coffee incorporated into a latte. As the cubes melt, the coffee flavor will become more intense, Jung said.
Ahn said she’s excited for the Real Strawberry Latte, which will feature fresh strawberries.
She said locals can get excited over the Coconut Latte and Avocado Latte.
Ahn said Ohas Boulangerie & Café will use only premium coffee beans in their drinks. The full beverage menu will be available on opening day, she added.
Cho said Ohas is also proud to serve special, sweetened herbal teas to the community.
When they open on the 30th, Ahn said Ohas Boulangerie & Café will host a special “Wheel of Fortune” promotion. Customers can present their purchase receipt for a chance to spin the prize wheel and win a prize while supplies last.
Ahn said the move to Garapan was a decision made by E-Land based on feedback from their customers.
“We began looking for somewhere closer to the people of Saipan,” Ahn said. “We were serving at Ohas Kensington but the feedback we were getting is that it’s too far. We saw the demand.”
Cho said their customers also have special requests.
“Locals said to me, we know your bread is very good and healthy and very yummy, but it’s very far,” Cho said. “We consider [this location] a good way to provide our cakes and bread to the local people for their convenience.”
Aside from being closer to customers, Ahn said there’s a lot of pedestrian traffic in Garapan, the island’s tourism hub.
“Garapan is, bottom-line, the center of the whole island,” Ahn said. “[It’s] where the most tourists come and where the local population come for different occasions. We hope to contribute to the promotion of the revitalization of Garapan itself. We want it to be a more happening place.”
