AGAPE Christian School won its second game in the girls high school division of the NMIVA-PSS Interscholastic Volleyball League SY 23-24 by upsetting Grace Christian Academy School in a three-set duel Tuesday at the Marianas High School gym.

Although ACS only had eight players at their disposal, they managed to match up with the very tough GCA squad.

GCA played to their strengths in the opening set as they constantly worked around their “tower of power,” Azzy Fatialofa, to finish with spike finishes while Sofia Gomez and Misako Ota covered the weakside with proper returns to notch the first set by a huge margin, 21-7.

ACS returned to the second set as if they were a different team. Aiyuan “Emma” Pang, Miaozhuo “Barbara” Wang, Zining “Sunny” Wang, and Meijia “Esther” Zhao highlighted their comeback with well-timed blocks and better communication, forcing GCA to commit errors, which led to an ACS win, 21-19.

In the third and final set, both teams gave it their all as several lead exchanges were made. But ACS excelled as the aggressor and eventually gained the two-point distance  to defeat GCA, 18-16.
