Marybecky Camacho Repeki-Huerta, originally from Saipan, could win the People’s Choice award at the Miss Curvy pageant with your support.
A FORMER resident of As Matuis, Saipan, is one of the candidates in the People’s Choice division of the National Miss Curvy Pageant in Carson City, Nevada.
Marybecky Camacho Repeki-Huerta is the current Ms. Pacifica Plus and is Washington state’s representative to the National Miss Curvy contest, which occurs on Sept. 10.
She was in her junior year in Kagman High School in 2009 before she moved to Vancouver, Washington, where she completed her high school education.
Through an online voting process at silverstatepageants.org, Repeki-Huerta has been in the top three of the 11 contestants since voting began in late August.
“It’s an honor to know that I’ve been in the top three since the start of People’s Choice,” Repeki-Huerta said. “Votes are anonymous; therefore, knowing I have that much support only brings me much more encouragement.”

Repeki-Huerta tells Variety that winning People’s Choice would be bigger than just a personal victory.
“If I do win, this means I can use my platform to inspire much more men and women in the world to reach for the stars and that some dreams do come true,” she said.
The National Miss Curvy Pageant is a property of Silver State Pageants. Their website states that their contests are “fun, inclusive, and family friendly pageants…open to every age, size and ability from birth up.”
The National Miss Curvy Pageant is for women “considered ‘Curvy’ by the standards of U.S. clothing size” meaning women size 16 and up.
Repeki-Huerta said she decided to take up the challenge after encouragement from Leah’s Fabulous Productions, a Guam-based event planning group.
Repeki-Huerta is a firm body-positivity advocate and said that “we are all beautiful and I am willing to attest to that.”

She said “self-confidence is everything even when facing stereotypes daily. As long as we have courage to face reality, that will always boost self-esteem.”
She looks at her opportunity on the Miss Curvy stage to further women’s empowerment and body positivity.
“Leah’s Fabulous Productions is a group that believes in all types of women, men, and kids,” Repeki-Huerta said. “[Through this opportunity] I was able to showcase my platform that woman should always empower other woman even when negativity is exposed.”
She said so far, the experience on the pageant circuit has made her more comfortable in her own body and has given her more confidence.
The voting process for People’s Choice doubles as a fundraising opportunity, with 25% of proceeds going to the charity of the winner’s choice.
Repeki-Huerta said if she wins, she will donate funds to the American Diabetes Association.
