Letter to the Editor: Biba nurses!

been working with families and communities during challenging times. I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for the terrific job you have been doing, your remarkable selflessness as you quietly go about your practice, usually without recognition of your value in contributing outstandingly in improving the health of your patients…alleviating our sufferings and aiding us back to health and recovery.

For the past five years, CHC has become my second home, being admitted so many times. My heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary care I have received at your facility. I was always provided with the kind of care, compassion and support, that not only improved my quality of life but  also extended it. While the wonderful care has been continuous during all these years, there have been instances when it reached new heights when my condition would worsen. The nurses have only been loving, patient and supportive. You have provided me with the warmest, most caring environment possible. You have also given a family peace of mind, and most importantly more precious time with their husband and father. It is hard to express in mere words the gratitude my family feels toward the staff and nurses. Thank you for all you do.

My only wish is that where ever our nurses are working — whether in the government-owned CHC, private clinics, or home heath providers — that they would be supported. Give them moral support, encourage them, and most of all acknowledge them in every good thing they do. The world will never run out of sick people, and for that very reason  the nursing job is rather an institution all to itself. So be nice to our nurses, because they are the most integral part of our health industry…even doctors cannot do without them good ole nurses!

I am now being home-assisted by an MVN nurse and I am always so grateful for her, and also to all the nurses that have cared for me. Happy Nurses Week to all of you!

Last but not the least, I would also like to recognize my 24/7 nurse at home, and that’s my wife of 25 years. Shetold me once how she is so thankful to have been taught by unselfish nurses as to the how’s and don’ts of nursing a patient and she is doing just great with it. She has become a nurse by heart because of the knowledge shared with her.

Once again, a very Happy Nursing Week to all the nurses in the CNMI! HIP HIP HOORAY!

I love you all!
